Staying the Course

Happy #faithfilledfriday

“Stay the Course”

Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.

‭‭—Proverbs‬ ‭19:21‬ ‭ESV‬‬

What a year 2021 has been thus far—I believe that is something we can all agree on—and for varying reasons depending on who you talk with. I must say that surprise and uncertainty were rulers of special moments and devastating outcomes, yet God has shown me the importance of staying the course.

Staying the course means sticking with God, no matter what; and believe it or not, there are circumstances and situations that drive a wedge, draw a curtain, isolate, steals our zeal and severs our personal connection with God—Romans 8:35 lists a few of life’s happenings that so easily deters and distracts. But how do we stay the course, how do we humanly remain steadfast?!

  1. We CLING to GOD (Romans 12:9; Ephesians 5:10)

Not just in tribulation, but always—even when we don’t know God’s WHY, or don’t understand the season or the timing. Pray. Memorize and recite verses that keep you encouraged. Allow trusted friends to cover you and help to carry your burdens.

  1. We ASK God without doubting, for WISDOM (James 1:5-6)

Many times we ask for what we want, which can be what God wants for us, but we should ask, seek, and pray for God’s will AND the ability to accept and cope with God’s answer. When we are seeking answers while in uncharted territory, WAIT and be watchful until God gives you a CLEAR sign.

  1. We spend TIME with God, allowing the WORD to minister (Psalm 119:9)

How can you love someone or something that you do not know well?! How can one understand if they lack knowledge and wisdom?! How can one grow spiritually, if they do not tend to their spiritual garden?!

  1. We allow the SPIRIT to LEAD because there is NO law against its fruits (Galatians 5:22-23)

Our fruit is our evidence. We can be ruled by the  flesh or the spirit, but the choice and what accompanies it, is ours.

  1. We walk by faith and remember in part, that it is hope when evidence is NOT seen. (2 Cor 5:7; Hebrews 11:1).

Man, when you walk with someone long enough, you learn their character and ways; even when things surprise you, deep down you know that you can TRUST them to be there always, through thick and thin—THAT’S GOD.

So, idk what 2021 brought you, but I do know who brought you through it. Idk the road you had to travel, but I do know that you didn’t travel alone. Idk your joy or sorrow, but I do know love makes a difference, no matter the season.

Peace, God’s love, and abundant grace💜
