The Good in the Tool of Evil
Happy #faithfilledfriday
Genesis 50:20
As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today.
Your story, your life, your very existence is an inspiration to many, encouraging them to persist and continue where they are in life’s journey despite their hardships, struggles, and losses. What I love most about this story and this verse is the truth that God was always with Joseph and God kept Joseph even though he experienced betrayal, abandonment, false imprisonment and suffering for unjustifiable reasons. But in the midst of his circumstances, his story speaks of the way that God caused all things to work together for His good.
It’s hard to see “good” when you’re in the thick of things and evil is prevailing. It’s hard to “endure” when your loss is permanent or your treatment is unwarranted. It’s hard to be of good courage when the battles are constant and the victories are few.
Thankfully we have an Advocate, Helper, great treasure (2 Cor 4:7) that enables and empowers us to live, to thrive, to succeed, to endure, to overcome, to prosper, all in our fragile vessels, displaying the power and splendor of God’s being and unveiling our finiteness and limitations within our own strength. Even knowing the latter, I am reassured and at peace knowing God has no limitations and God truly desires to give us a life of goodness on earth. I can rejoice in knowing that the weapons that form may wound, but they won’t win. I can stand firm in knowing that I am truly more than a conqueror empowered by the Holy Spirit to do exceedingly and abundantly above all I could ever ask or think. I can trust God without knowing all of my life’s intricate details and not understanding the purpose of all the devil’s schemes.
Evil, whether it’s intentional or not is never easy to brush over. But we can rest assure that what people and even the devil meant for evil, God WILL WORK OUT FOR OUR GOOD and THAT WILL WITNESS TO AND SAVE MANY PEOPLE. Your life and story MATTERS because God filled it with His purposes. Keep overcoming evil with GOOD.
